The One Thing Stronger Than White Supremacy

Is it a unified army of Afrikans?

No.

Is it a rainbow coalition of good citizens?

No.

Then what is it?

Greed.

Yes greed. If there is one thing that I think stands a chance of ending the phenomenon of White Privilege in this country, it is greeed.

Why is that? Because people will do anything for money. It doesn't matter if it means screwing over your mother, father, sister, or brother, children, best friend, what- ever. If there is one thing I have learned about humanity is that I belong to a very greedy species.

People think that it is our soul that sets us apart from the animals. No. According to some of the literature I have, many religions believe that animals have souls. Other people say it is our reasoning, our logic, our ability to think. No, I disagree there, especially if you consider that the behavior of people is close to the behavior of rats. Lots of animals can communicate, like Dolphins, other primates, and rats for examples. No, what I think really makes humanity special is that we are the greediest animals on the planet. In addition, we are the only species that appears to think that it can control nature and feels that it is above natural and divine law.

But how can greed wipe out whites giving other whites privileges? Simple: the whites that have money may become so greedy that they don't care who they use or abuse, as long as it makes them MORE money. Example: a lot of blue-collar jobs are being shipped overseas to countries in Asia and South America. Aren't a lot of the people that work those jobs white? What happened to looking out for Good Ole White American Joe? Doesn't he deserve to feed his family even if he can't write a batch program or run a mainframe or make a webpage? Not according to the greedy. Yes, true, Black People are hit harder because more of us do not have high-tech skills, and we've been oppressed since the day we got here, but you have to admit, we aren't the only ones being hit these days. As I heard the Last Poets say a few years ago "Niggas don't just come in black anymore. These days we are ALL niggas."

Some white business people are even hip to the fact that they can bring in a competent or more competent minority in to do a job for less money than it would cost to hire a white guy, and they do just that. I've met a lot of people from other countries and heard a lot of other brothers complain about it. Now, can a white guy find a job somewhere else? Sure he can. But I believe that if the American population decides to get any greedier, even he (the "Man") may have a harder time finding work unless a relative does the hiring. Do I think it will be worse form them than what blacks face now: no, but probably just as bad.

I may be being naive, I'll admit that. But my view of human nature does not allow for me to believe that white people are going to look out for white people as a whole should resources get scarce, just because they share the same skin color. They will look out for white people that are blood relatives, (maybe) but not for whites they don't know or don't deem "good enough". All you have to do is look at how mainstream society treats Appalachians and other so-called "white trash" (if you ask me there is a lot of trash walking around in three-piece suits and living in the city.) Under our CURRENT paradigm, the case usually is if a white and a non-white go after something the white usually gets preference. However, I think that it is possible that the world could shift to a point where if a white and a non-white go after something, the person with the something will give it too whomever he/she thinks will give him/her the most value for the buck. Why? Because greed is stronger than fear. I know some of you will argue "No matter how much money you get, the White Man will never view you as an equal in his eyes". I'm not looking for approval, I'm looking for an existence where I am not hassled by the system. I don't care if you REALLY like me, I just would like to live in a world where the cops don't feel like pulling over Black drivers is a national passtime. If the O.J. Trial didn't convince you that money can make a difference in a black life, then I don't know what will. I bet if every racist cop feared he would end up like Mark Fuhrman every time he bothered a black man, they'd spend even more time picking on White Teenagers. Or homeless people. Or anybody the bad cops perceive as weaker than themselves.

The Civil War is a good example of how whites were willing to off other whites over what issue: Money. Not slavery, but money. The South did not want the North to dictate their economics. So politicians got people to rally together and decide to go to war over "independence" and "slavery". Yeah, okay, I believe that. I also believe that Tupac was abducted by aliens. Give me a break. I think that prejudice, although a very STRONG reason for keeping my ancestors locked up, was not the primary reason for slavery in the first place. I think the first reason was that the slave plantation system was GREEDY and needed the free labor. Labor for which we never have, NOR WILL WE EVER be compesated. I'm not holding my breath for the cash value of the 40 acres and a mule.

Folks, it was a WHITE history teacher who told me that all wars are raged over resources. It was also another white person that told me that he believed that the problem was not race, but greed. As he put it "People are just greedy. They use prejudice and all of this other stuff to further their greed. They're really just selfish. They don't even really care about each other, all they think about is themselves." I agree with him. My grandmother says it best: "All some of these people care about is MONEY."

Folks, it also would not be any better if everyone were the same color and us minorities were no longer around to worry the majority. How many people know about the beef between the British and the Irish throughout history? Look at how the Chinese government treats their citizens? What about the caste system in India's history? The wars with India and Pakistan? The tension between the Japanese and Chinese? The Catholics and Protestants in Ireland? The tribal wars in Africa? These are groups of people that are the same racially, yet turn on each other. Why? I think it's in human nature to be tribal, and it's also in human nature to be GREEDY. A few people will always want to have power over everybody else as long as humanity is running along its current level of consciousness.

What function does white supremacy REALLY serve: it keeps the white people that already have money rich. You have prejudice cops, clerks, administrators, and other tentacles of the system that keep the minorities in check. The prejudice white people are so busy looking at and worrying about what the minorities are doing that they don't pay attention to how the rich are ripping them off. The white people and other people who are not prejudice are too busy trying to survive to buck the system. And it looks like to me that there will be even more poor white people unless the public does something about the manufacturing and production plants that are being shipped overseas. Unfortunately us minorities will still have to worry about wackos who want to hurt us because of our skin color. The wackos are too stupid to be greedy.

What do I think Black Americans need to do for ourselves? Simple: SPEND MONEY ON EACH OTHER. The black consumer in this country has a lot of dollars. I guarrentee if we allocate that money to ourselves more, the businesses that miss our money will get their act together and treat us better so that they can get our money. Singing "We Shall Overcome", holding hands, and banging tambourines is not going to cut it, folks. If we Black People want respect from the Denny's and the Avis' of the world, then we need to stop giving them our money. That's how other minority groups got respect from this society; they got themselves an economic base.
