If People Built Houses Like Programmers Develop Applications

You would have spent all of 1999 wondering if your house was going to collapse or explode because of the Year 2000 problem

You would not always be able to access your house, even if you had a key

You would have to get a new key to your house every three months or you would be denied access

You could blame the fact that your home has "bugs" on the people who build it

The people developing your house would spend MONTHS in meetings where they decide how to build your house, even if they have built one that is exactly like it before in another location

Your relatives would call you up at all hours of the night, whenever they have a problem with their house because you have a house-related job

Even though you could blame the builders for the "bugs" in your home, the bugs still may not be gone by the time they sold it to you

Your house would suddenly disappear without warning, while you were using it, while it was raining or cold outside

The design of your house would be so complicated that you would have to hire a consultant to show you how to use it

The person you hired to show you how to use your house may also have a hard time figuring out how to use it

Even though design of your house would be so complicated that you would have to hire a consultant to show you how to use it, the consultant would consider you to be an idiot if you asked a question about your house that to HIM had an obvious answer

The people responsible for inspecting your house for safety standards would be ignored by the developers in order to get your house sold on time

The people responsible for inspecting your home for safety standards would be ignored by the builders in order to get it sold on time, then would be blamed for anything that went wrong with your house after you started living in it

The people responsible for inspecting your house for safety standards may have never lived in a home or there own, or have any clue as to how to make home repairs, they can only tell you what is wrong with it

If for some reason you had to enter your house through the living room window, a glitch in your house could make you end up in the basement.

Your house may collapse if someone is using it and your toolshed at the same time.

The version of the house that you purchased may not be compatible with the yard that it is placed on. If so, then the developers would consider this problem to be your fault, and would charge you more money to upgrade your yard or would recommend you to someone who could for an even higher price.

Flooding in your basement would be considered a low level priority.

You could protect your house from electrical problems by purchasing one surge protector.

Your house would have been built three or four different times before it has been sold to you

You would be violating certain licensing laws if you allowed anyone to have access to your home whose name was not listed on the deed when you purchased it.

Whenever your house crashed it would literally be a "fatal error".

Not being able to get into your house through the front door would not seem like a high level problem to developers unless someone complained about it.

You would have to destroy your house and instantly reassemble it if you ran into a problem with a door or an appliance

The demo version of your house may not look anything like the one that was sold to you.

You could purchase your house with your credit card

Having running water in your home would be considered a medium level priority.

The person building your house may have never actually lived in one before.

Upon coming home, you may find that you can't see your house even though it is actually there.

Your yard may appear empty with a sign in the middle of it that reads "House not found. Please try coming home again later."
